Valentine Presents

We go through this every year:

Him: "Do you want a Valentine's present?"

Me: "Not if I've got to ask for it!"

Not really known for his romantic inclinations, is my Marathon Runner. He is thoughtful sometimes, I'll give him that.

The trouble is, sometimes he surprises me and brings something home, even though he said he wouldn't.

So here is the dilemma; do I buy/make him something or not?

I did wonder about making one (or two) of these

but have left it a bit late. Perhaps I'll just do a bunch of these

or maybe I'll just make him his favourite Lemon Meringue Pie?

A Couple of Pretty Things

Mad Child went to a craft club recently and I've been meaning to show you what she made for some time:

I think he's rather cute, don't you? He is a brooch and quite soft and squidgy. I love his hair; this is what Marathon Runner's hair would look like if he let it grow!!!

I also found this in the greenhouse today -


It is one of the Yule logs that we collected last year and had put in there to dry out (and forgotten about!) The fungus is really pretty, it's too pretty to burn now!

Just a short post today but I have the day to myself tomorrow so here's hoping I can get a little more crafting done!

More Valentine Garlands

Hello Dear Hearts! (Didn't Ermintrude used to say that?)

Three and counting .... these are getting rather addictive! I started with the one on the left: do you notice that they are getting longer?



Well done, One Hour Craft for this one. It really is soooo easy and used up some of the papers I had lying around. Even though I am not much into paper craft as much as fabrics and yarns, I had still managed to collect rather a lot of them!

Some lovely purple, pink and orange ones.

Greens and pinks.

And the fluorescent ones for Scary, but I fancy the ones with the patterns look a bit better.

I am so taken with these that today I actually bought some more patterned papers to make some more! I did try and get some red paper today but the lady in the shop looked at me and said "but we sold all the red at Christmas!"

Honestly anyone would think it was Valentine's Day or something!

Is it just me?

Time for bed said Zebedee.

PS Are they still called garlands if they hang downwards rather than across?

Eat Your Greens

Remember those postcards I bought last week? Well, I found a suitable frame (used to have some Harry Potter postcards in) and popped them in this afternoon. Yes, I know the cupboard won't open now!

But this is the only place I have a hook that has good enough daylight to take a picture!!

Just in case you can't read the cards, they say:

MAKE DO AND MEND: well, I think we all do that in blogland, don't we?

EAT YOUR GREENS: children didn't think much of this!

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON: no explanation necessary!

Over the last few days I have been making some of these and I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow but work and the low light levels have conspired against me (and I suspect my useless camera).

Fancy a Bun?

Remember that lovely cook book I bought at the weekend? Well I eventually got around to trying my first recipe: sticky gingerbread cupcakes. Oh goodness, brace yourself, they are absolutely GORgeous! Roll on chocolate brownie cupcakes, toffee apple cakes, chocolate fudge squares and banana and caramel cookies!
