Ooops I Forgot to Show You ....

what The Runner made me for tea on the day of the Cake Stall .....

Mmmm, do you fancy it?

Well, no I didn't actually, but it turned out to be really nice (a recipe from Gordon Ramsy I think).

It's not easy being green!

Can I Go To Work Now (For A Rest)?

A little bit of shortbread,

a few slices of gingerbread,

some 'flower' lollipops,

a fudge tart or two (recipe in the side bar), the odd lemon drizzle cake,

some bakewell tarts,

a brilliant pan and dibber thing borrowed from a friend

to make mini tarts, eg rolo and jam ones,

all came together for a Cake Stall in a very windy and rainy street over the weekend.

Scary has signed up for a trip to India next year to help renovate an orphanage with a charity called World Challenge.  It's all very heartwarming and altruistic but the bottom line is that she has to raise over £3,000.  Gulp!

When I'd picked myself up off the floor, I figured that I'd better do something to help and baking seemed to be the answer.  Cake is always the answer!

Most of the time, we were hanging on to the gayzebra and trying to keep things dry!

Middle of June!  It felt more like the depths of winter!

Can I tempt you?

This Weekend I Have Mostly Been ...

doing wedding-y things!

A lovely friend of mine and her long-time partner decided to tie the knot on Saturday, so consequently last week was taken up with frantically trying to finalise outfits for my two girls (no, didn't have time to even think about mine!) and helping out with the food.

So I have been making lemonade for the wedding welcoming non-alcoholic alternative drink ...

making blinis (well, little savoury pancakes, not sure they were bona fide blinis) to be topped with cream cheese and smoked salmon for hors d'oeuvres,

scrubbing the living room carpet because Tall Boyfriend wasted a whole mug of tea on it,

batch baking lasagne for the freezer because I had a job lot of veg that needed using up,

painting nails,

and customising charity shops finds for my girls.  Photos to come soon on that last one!

And it's even taken me until Wednesday to get the blog post done!!

Hey Ho!

Back to the Grindstone

All too soon it has come to an end.  The carefree indulgences of paddling in warm turquoise seas, pina colada by the pool, air conditioned siestas and nosy-ing on down to the restaurant to see what's for tea.

Ah well, back to washing and vacuuming and clearing up after teenagers and husbands.  Also back to a decent cup of coffee and my own very comfy bed though as well!

You don't realise how much you take for granted how 'green' Devon is.

These are taken from the aeroplane as we came back.

Tis good to be back but I miss the blithe and fanciful wanderings of the mind that you only get when you are absent from your customary routine.

However, socks have been sewn:

and life is returning to normal.

Hopefully this will include a bit more blogging!
